NEGHL WEATHER CANCELLATION POLICY

League games will be played unless there is an announcement made on NEGHL.org canceling games league-wide. If a league wide cancellation has not been announced but a team feels it is unsafe to travel, they must contact their organization’s director to seek NEGHL approval for canceling their game. Coaches do not have the authority to cancel games. If a team does not show for a game without prior league approval, the game will be recorded as a forfeit and that team’s organization will be subject to fines pursuant to the league cancellation rules found on the league rules page of the NEGHL.org website.

Please note, the NEGHL considers player and families safety to be the utmost priority so a coach's cancellation request will not be unreasonably withheld; however, this is New England and snow is a common event. Teams should be prepared to play when the snowfall amounts are not significant.

Process:

  1. Each team staff contacts their program director regardng the game in question.

  2. Program director contacts their opponent's director

  3. Director's make decision or decide what time a decision will be made.

  4. If the decision is to cancel the info must be emailed to NEGHL: info@neghl.org with both teams staffs and program directors on cc. Reschedules can be done between programs without league involvement.

  5. The NEGHL site will be updated (if necessary.)

  6. If a director cannot be reached / or has not responsed / email the league directly.
